From our inception to entering into our 25th year, diversity has existed at the core of Larta’s DNA.

In April, our CEO and Founder, Rohit Shukla, travelled to the Human Capital Institute’s (HCI) Inclusive Diversity conference to give a keynote speech entitled, “Inclusive Innovation: Where Does Diversity Fit Within the DNA of a Successful Company?” The HCI’s 2018 Inclusive Diversity Conference, based in San Francisco, focused on driving innovation and market share by strengthening cultural intelligence within corporations.

At Larta, we believe that building diverse teams brings science-driven, innovative companies greater creativity, problem-solving, empathy, and understanding of globalized business. On defining diversity as more than just skin-deep:

“We need to be able to embrace more dimensions of diversity when we talk about a person [such as] variety and diversity of thought. It is very important to recognize that there are multiple perspectives that might emerge from individuals in a team, multiple interpretations of how to achieve certain things. There are multiple ways of being able to focus on solutions, again, regardless of where and what they come from.”

Three ways you can inculcate diversity in your team:

  1. “Establish an expressive baseline of values. It has to be clear, concise, and meaningful – statements about what diversity means. A proactive way of being able to express, in a meaningful fashion, what the organization stands for.”
  2. “Establish, empower, and promote values on a peer level. This is the only way you can direct change from the inside of an organization.”
  3. “Encourage employees to communicate and discuss exemplary individuals outside of the organization. They are a product of all of the interactions that exist outside of work, and they will come to work and bring those experiences to the table.”
